- About Us
The theme of WBTT’s 2013-2014 season is “Rhythms of Change.” It represents the significant changes that occurred for African Americans between the end of the Civil War in 1865 and a century later in 1965. We went from the dark days of slavery to the jivin’ days of the Cotton Club to the beat of calypso’s “Day-O” and black stardom.
Life is never a straight course. Mine, like all individuals, has taken many twists and turns, numerous ups and downs. The various “Rhythms of Change” that block or encourage my progress constantly challenge me. But through it all I have continually maintained my faith that things will turn out for the best. And now, the best surrounds me every day as I look at the property that WBTT has bought for our permanent home. I choke back tears just thinking of the community support that has gotten us to this incredible milestone.
In the 2013-2014 season WBTT will open our doors and shine a spotlight on a “home” that is ours. We will celebrate both African Americans’ 100 years and WBTT’s 14 years of struggles and victories. We hope you will join us in our celebration.
See you at our very own theater!
